For decades, Terry's OK Tire has been more than a tire shop. It has been a cornerstone of the Milton-Freewater community, built on hard work, integrity, and a commitment to serving generations of local families.
For Terry Morris, the business represented far more than a livelihood. It was his life's work, his passion, and a legacy built one customer at a time.
The barrier
Would the Building Allow Him to Continue?
As Terry grew older, the physical demands of the shop became increasingly difficult. The layout of the building, never designed with accessibility in mind, created barriers that threatened to separate him from the business he had spent a lifetime building.
The question was no longer whether Terry wanted to keep working. He did. The question was whether the building would allow him to.

The Brent Oliver 541 Foundation believes meaningful access to life extends far beyond parks, trails, and public lands. It means ensuring that people with disabilities, older Americans, veterans, and those facing physical challenges have the opportunity to continue living with purpose, dignity, and independence.
Sometimes that means helping someone return home after a catastrophic injury. Sometimes it means advocating for specialized medical care. And sometimes it means making sure a father can continue working beside his son.
Preserving a family legacy
A Complete Accessibility Transformation
When the Foundation learned of Terry's situation, we saw more than a construction project. We saw an opportunity to preserve a family legacy.
Working alongside local contractors, businesses, suppliers, volunteers, and generous community members, the Brent Oliver 541 Foundation coordinated a complete accessibility transformation of the facility. Materials were donated. Skilled trades donated their time and expertise. Concrete was donated and placed.
A new accessible entrance was created, and the rear portion of the building was reconstructed to better support Terry's mobility and daily work. The shop was reconfigured so Terry could continue working safely and efficiently alongside his son, Tom.
Every improvement served a single purpose: removing barriers that stood between Terry and the life he wanted to continue living.
What the project protected
Independence. Purpose. Legacy.
This project was never about remodeling a tire shop. It was about preserving independence. It was about protecting a family business that had served the community for decades. It was about making sure experience, knowledge, and purpose were not lost simply because a building no longer met the needs of the man who built it.
Most importantly, it was about demonstrating what can happen when a community comes together around a common purpose.
The Brent Oliver 541 Foundation provided the leadership to bring that community together. Contractors, suppliers, local businesses, volunteers, and donors answered the call, proving once again that meaningful change happens when people choose to invest in one another.
No single organization could have completed this project alone, but together, the impossible became possible.
The true measure of success
Terry Continues Doing What He Loves.
Well into his eighties, Terry still works alongside Tom at Terry's OK Tire, greeting customers, sharing decades of knowledge, and remaining an active part of the business he spent a lifetime building.
The project didn't simply improve a building. It preserved a way of life.
