Why the outdoors matters
More Than a Destination
For many of us, the outdoors is far more than a destination. It is where families gather, friendships are strengthened, traditions are passed from one generation to the next, and memories are created that last a lifetime. It is also where many people find peace after hardship, purpose after uncertainty, and healing after trauma.
The Brent Oliver 541 Foundation believes that meaningful access to life includes meaningful access to the outdoors because no disability, injury, or physical limitation should prevent someone from experiencing the places and traditions that bring them hope.

Founded by Ryan and Deanna Gascon, High Timber Dreams is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hunting, fishing, and outdoor experiences for veterans, active-duty military members, first responders, youth, and others who can benefit from the healing power of the outdoors.
Ryan and Deanna have built an organization centered on service, compassion, conservation, and the belief that time spent outdoors has the power to restore confidence, strengthen relationships, and change lives. Beyond providing unforgettable outdoor experiences, High Timber Dreams also instills a deep respect for wildlife, conservation, ethical hunting, and responsible stewardship of our natural resources.
The relationship between High Timber Dreams and the Brent Oliver 541 Foundation extends far beyond two nonprofit organizations working together on occasional projects. Ryan and Deanna are close personal friends, and our organizations share a common vision. We both believe that every person deserves the opportunity to experience the outdoors regardless of the physical challenges they may face.
Together, we understand that meaningful access is not created simply by extending an invitation. It is created by removing the physical barriers that prevent someone from fully participating.

For an individual living with a mobility limitation, a traditional hunting blind can present obstacles that make participation difficult or impossible. Uneven terrain, narrow entrances, limited interior space, unstable surfaces, and inaccessible layouts can turn what should be an enjoyable experience into another reminder of physical limitations.
While most people see a hunting blind as a simple structure, someone living with a disability often sees the barriers standing between them and the opportunity to participate alongside family and friends.
The Brent Oliver 541 Foundation believes those barriers can and should be removed.

Bringing the Project to Life
When High Timber Dreams set out to build an accessible hunting blind, our Foundation was honored to become part of the effort. We contributed hands-on labor, excavation equipment, site preparation, and construction support to help bring the project to life.
Working alongside Ryan and Deanna, dedicated volunteers, generous donors, skilled contractors, and community partners, we helped create a hunting blind designed to welcome individuals with disabilities and mobility limitations into experiences many believed had been lost forever.
The finished blind represents far more than lumber, concrete, and craftsmanship. It represents opportunity. It represents inclusion. It represents the belief that disability should never determine whether someone can sit beside a loved one on opening morning, introduce a child or grandchild to the traditions of hunting, or experience the quiet peace that can only be found in God’s creation.
Where healing happens
The Outdoors Provides Something Difficult to Describe but Impossible to Ignore.
For many veterans, first responders, and individuals facing physical or emotional challenges, the outdoors offers space to breathe, time to reflect, freedom from daily pressures, and the opportunity to reconnect with family, friends, and themselves.
Healing does not always happen within the walls of a hospital or rehabilitation center. Sometimes healing happens beside a campfire, in a quiet meadow at sunrise, on a mountain overlooking a valley, or while sharing a hunt with people who understand the value of simply being together.
